Cass showing off. Not even breaking a sweat. Because I forgot…
I’ve never reblogged this here before but for about the past year as they released pages, I colored in (for fun and practice with their permission) fsbot’s short Cassandra Cain versus Scarecrow mini-comic line-art.
I am not fond of how I did the last page (saturated much) and may revisit it but hey(edit: fixed it!), But hey, Black Bat! I thought I’d collect all the pages into one post here for all to see otherwise they were all separate posts on my regular blog. The first page is my favorite as I dedicated the most time to that one and I enjoy the color palette there the most. So yeah, enjoy!- Max
Thought I’d reblog it too for easy access.
(Also, I have some Steph/Bab/Cass costume designs on the way.)
Pencils or inks?
Okay, that’s the last Cass drawing for awhile. I promise.
Currently working on a script. If all goes well, I hope to share the story soon.
And finally, the last page of the Cass vs Scarecrow comic.
It was really fun and gave me something to do and explore. Any assessments and future suggestions will be appreciated. For now, I think I’ll go back to doing simple sketches for a bit.
Page 5 of the comic.
No Jason Todd or Batwoman, since I don’t think Cass has met either. And as much as I don’t like Damien, I felt like I needed to concede that he’s part of the family now.
Imagine a very bright light in the second panel. Kind of hard to draw… light.
Pages 3 and 4 of the Cass/Scarecrow Comic, after Cassandra inhaled some fear gas.
To elaborate, here are the scenes in clockwise order, starting from the bottom left:
-Cassandra’s first kill as a child and when she first understood death. She killed the man by digging her fingers into his neck and ripping out his throat.
-The death of Stephanie Brown.
-Lady Shiva. This was a little difficult, because there’s no official look for Shiva. She used to be white, now she’s asian. Her hair changes and she has no official outfit.
-Deathstroke with the drug he used to manipulate Cass.
-Evil Cass, killing some poor lady
-Abandonment issues.
I just now finished the pencils, so decided to give another sneak peak.
I’m amazed by how little time I have to draw. I’m a full-time student and I have two jobs. I major in Biology and Physiology, so I’m constantly trying to keep up (rather poorly.)
In the end, I only have about one day out of the week to actually draw. It’s gotten really depressing.
PING. All done for now. Colored the first two pages from fsbot’s fan comic of Cassandra Cain versus The Scarecrow. Check their work out, they’re really good.
Here’s an incredibly good rendition of my comic that Maximiliani here volunteered to do. It captures the tone amazingly and I love the effect of Cass breaking the Scarecrow hallucination and the fog that suddenly surrounds her.
This kind of reminds me of The Killing Joke. Its original colors were different from the norm and were meant to fit the mood of the scene, rather than be colored realistically. But with the re-release not too long ago, the color was changed to something modern and much more… boring.
This colorist has a knack for taking the story in the pages into deep consideration, which is a great ability to have.
The first two pages of a 6-page comic of Cassandra Cain vs. The Scarecrow.
This was an incredibly fun piece to draw. Not so much to ink.
And I’m sure most of you recognize this rendition of Scarecrow. I like my Scarecrow competent and truly terrifying, not a big-nosed nobody who’s dependent on his fear gas for everything.
Drew this one while on pain killers, to experiment how badly they were affecting me.
I really need to stop with the Cass/Tim duo. No one else is into them. I’ll try to get some Cass/Steph next time.
Is her name Blackbat or Black Bat?
